Payor Documentation Requirements
In today’s healthcare marketplace, simply writing a prescription is often not good enough to justify the medical necessity of the item you are prescribing for your patient. Medicare, Medicaid and many private payors are now looking at the physicians medical records to verify the patient was seen for a face-to-face visit to support the medical necessity of the device prescribed. We as the supplier will often request the physician notes when required by the payor.
Below are some specific documentation requirements for certain devices:
- Custom Orthoses
- Scoliosis TLSO
- Cranial Remolding Orthosis
- Diabetic Footwear
